Discipleship Class
Fellowship Hall 300 Willits St, Birmingham, MI, United StatesWhat makes a Baptist a Baptist? The ultimate answer, of course, is simple: Membership, or regular attendance at a local Baptist Church. But there are all kinds of Baptist groups and Baptist churches! So, what are the “generic distinctions,” the “peculiar convictions,” the “specific ideals” that Baptists rally around and that make a Baptist a Baptist? What is the shape and feel of the 21st century Baptist movement? On October 8th, our Discipleship Class dinner and gathering will focus on Baptists in America beginning in the 18th century through the mid 19th century. In November, we will explore the Baptist movement from mid 19th century to the present and the challenges brought about by change and conflict. The goal of these sessions will be to allow those who attend to discover more about their Baptist tradition and how to better understand and practice their faith.
