July Mission Offering | Michigan Veterans’ Foundation | Dedicated to those who defend, protect and serve our country | Celebrating America’s 250th anniversary The Michigan Veterans Foundation operates the Detroit Veterans Center, a transitional housing facility and resource center, helping homeless veterans gain skills and confidence to return to independent living. This includes the specific goals of residential stability, increased skill level, increased income, and greater self-determination to obtain and maintain self-sufficiency. Veterans live in a safe, structured environment designed to lead them back into society through professional guidance and veteran-to-veteran reinforcement. Among their many services, DVC provides a Veteran Rescue Program, health care services, meals, clothing and transportation, legal assistance, and housing placement. They work with a multitude of human service providers, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies to meet the veterans’ medical, psychological, and educational needs.
