Mission Moment

The Parlor 300 Willits St, Birmingham, MI, United States

Harriet Tubman Chaplain Network A program of the Moral Injury Support Network for Servicewomen A significant majority of military women have suffered a moral injury due to their gender. Many have experienced military sexual trauma, hazing, extreme disrespect, sexual harassment, and rape. A moral injury is the psychological, emotional, and spiritual distress caused by participating in or witnessing events violating one’s moral code. The Moral Injury Support Network offers military women therapeutic interventions and support networks to help heal those wounds. One of their programs is the Harriet Tubman Chaplain Network, a nonprofit that connects volunteer women chaplains with veteran servicewomen needing spiritual counseling. HTN is not affiliated with the military, but available to women who are still serving or who have been retired or discharged. The Outreach Team will present a program video, narrated by the network’s director, Army Chaplain Colonel, Karen Meeker, at the Mission Moment on May 5 after worship.
