Mission Moment

The Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC) serves as a vital legal resource for immigrant communities across the state, and it is the only Michigan-based nonprofit offering free legal advice on the immigration court’s pro bono list. MIRC’s experienced attorneys and advocates provide legal services, including detention and removal defense, consultations, and guidance for individuals facing deportation. It is a program of Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services (MSAS), funded through federal, state, and local grants, as well as foundations and nonprofit partners.
MIRC also provides education and training on immigration law and immigrant rights, builds statewide coalitions with social justice organizations, and represents clients in cases involving civil rights violations, and access to public benefits.
Individual donations are essential to meet their growing demand for services.
- $35 supports one hour of a detained advocacy hotline
- $75 covers a detained client’s attorney consultation
- $280 funds a full day of advocacy support
To learn more about MIRC, please meet in the parlor after worship on Sunday, April 12.
