On Monday afternoons, we will gather on Zoom for a book study of Aging Faithfully, a holy invitation to grow written by Alice Fryling. In Aging Faithfully, spiritual director Alice Fryling guides our walk with God through the uncharted terrain of our later years when we may become preoccupied with all we are losing. As we listen for God’s voice in this vulnerable time, Alice shows how God invites us to renewal from within. We can learn to accept our responses to the aging process and grow in our relationship to ourselves and to God, experiencing grace and love in deeper and deeper ways. Alice speaks to the questions many older people ask: • Will aging change who I am? • Will aging diminish who I am as a person? • How will aging change my relationships with family and friends? • How will aging affect my relationship with God? • What do I do about the things that I do not like about the aging process? • Is there anything I like about getting older? • How can I continue to grow in this new season of life? The book includes personal meditations as well as group discussion questions to help us navigate the process of aging faithfully. 
We will gather on Monday nights at 7 PM for a class again this Fall. Our first session will be on September 8th. The group will look over potential topics and formats for the next few months and decide on a direction together. This will be a vibrant gathering if past performance is any indication! |

Each year thousands of churches and individuals come together to promote and support ministries that God is using to transform the world in over 70 countries. Donations are used for mission program support for global servants, international partners, and other ministries, and for administrative and development costs. The Outreach team has designated the WMO offering for the IM Missionary Kids Care project. Missionary kids grow up in a life of many transitions and good-byes. These challenges have resulted in eight in ten MKs, aged 18-26, having severe depression or anxiety and one in five leaving their faith entirely. This project helps them find their place in God's kingdom and prepares their families for living and ministering overseas and assisting them in transition and re-entry after home assignments. MKCares takes on a caregiving role to address missionary kids’ emotional, spiritual, and physical health by providing avenues of communication, educational assistance, resources and understanding. It encourages parents to assist them in becoming healthy individuals and families. You’re’ invited to come to the parlor after worship on October 5th to learn more about this project. |

Our next Discipleship class will be on Tuesday, October 14th. Dinner will be at 6:30 PM with a program to follow. These intergenerational gatherings are an important part of our continuing growth as a congregation! |

Join us for coffee, conversation, and community on the third Sunday of every month following worship service.

On Sunday, October 19th, we will meet directly after worship in the Parlor to hold our October Congregational Meeting. We will share updates in the life of the church as well as look to vote on the slate of leadership for 2026. The 19th is also our October Coffee Hour so we can conduct our business while enjoying delicious snacks! |

Khurshida Hossain, the new Executive Director of Friendship House, will visit Sanctuary after worship on October 26 to share her vision of making FH an exceptional resource for the Hamtramck community. She would like to meet and refresh us about current innovative programs, that add to our long history of supporting FH with budgeted donations and volunteer support. Sanctuary members, Bill Olsen and Glenn Craig, serve on the Board of Directors. You’re invited to learn how FH is enhancing quality of life, promoting long-term wellness, and equipping families with tools for healthier futures. |
