Join us September 8th for our homecoming potluck in Fellowship Hall immediately after worship where we will also hear about our September mission partner, Be SMART for Kids. Please bring a dish to share. The church will provide burgers, hot dogs, brats, drinks, and place settings but we need help filling in the rest with sides and desserts (gluten free and vegetarian options needed as well). As always, you are welcome to bring a friend!

On the second and fourth Sundays of the month, we gather for a book study on Dangerous Wonder, a study about childlike faith written by Mike Yaconelli. Our first two sessions will be September 22 and October 27 so there is plenty of time to get on board. We will gather after worship in the Conference Room to eat lunch, pray, play and discuss together. It’s like going to youth group all over again! The paperback book is available for under $10 at this link.
BE SMART FOR KIDS Did you know that 4.6 million children in America live in homes where guns are loaded and unlocked, and in just one year 350 children, seventeen and under, gain access to a firearm and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else? Secure gun storage saves kids’ lives. September Offering Everytown for Gun Safety launched the Be SMART campaign in 2015 to take action to promote responsible gun ownership and reduce child gun deaths. Its focus is on education and awareness of child gun deaths and secure gun storage. Be SMART volunteers deliver a 20-minute presentation about kids, guns, and safety to local groups and organizations that encourages parents and caretakers to take simple steps to help prevent shootings by children. Be SMART presents solutions for America’s gun violence crisis and saves lives through gun sense education. Its public awareness campaign makes adults aware of Michigan’s new law requiring gun owners with a minor in the home to store firearms in a locked storage container. Jeffrey Bozell, on staff with the Be SMART program, will present a video presentation after worship on September 22nd. The Outreach team invites you to hear how this nonprofit delivers a vital message about gun safety that you can support.
