DESCRIPTION:The January Mission offering is designated to the American Baptist Retired Ministers and Missionaries fund that remembers the pastors\, missionaries and leaders who have served American Baptist Churches. Join us for a short video presentation about RMMO on Sunday\, January 12th in the Parlor after the worship service. \nThe Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering is always about celebrating\, thanking\, and lifting up our servant leaders. We remember the pastors\, missionaries and leaders who have served ABCUSA churches and ministries. Each of those who have celebrated the wondrous works of Christ will be remembered in the form of a thank you check – a tangible expression of our enduring gratitude for their service. A certain portion of funds are also allocated for direct emergency assistance. \nRecipients include retired ordained ministers and commissioned missionaries who have devoted 15 years or more to ABCUSA\, as well as surviving spouses. Funds in 2023 were allocated to Thank You Checks $598\,652 (62%) and Emergency Assistance $366\,916 (38%). \nEvery time they receive emergency assistance or a thank you check; these retired servants express their gratitude for being remembered and the difference your gift makes in their lives. Please consider how you can support these servant leaders in your mission offering this month.

DESCRIPTION:Our mission offering for the month of February will go to the New Day Foundation for Families\, a non-profit providing financial and emotional resources for families fighting cancer\, partnering with Michigan hospitals and cancer centers. The founders\, who experienced the death of their first spouses\, have told their story in a memoir which became a Hallmark movie. It will be highlighted by Jennifer Landers\, who will speak at the Mission Moment in the parlor on February 2nd directly following worship. \nNew Day Foundation for Families offers a financial bridge for Michigan families fighting cancer\, providing financial and emotional resources and partnering with Michigan hospitals and cancer centers. It began in 2007 after Michael and Gina Spehn both experienced the death of their first spouses to cancer. Because they know about crippling debt\, disruption for medical treatment\, and inadequate quality of life\, their foundation offers services that include paying everyday expenses\, partnering with licensed therapists and delivering groceries. They have told their story in a memoir\, The Color of Rain\, which became a Hallmark movie in 2014\, and they have bean featured on the Today Show. Your generosity provides Michigan families hope because every dollar means that financial and emotional stress can be relieved for more cancer families.
